Sorry to burst your bubble, jen, but Muslims need whatever help they can get from Christians.

I have many, and I am not Muslim. I try to look in the good in people, and here are some I saw in him:
1) he was a human being who admitted that he himself doesn't know that he will enter heaven.
In Islam, a person after they die will be judge by their deeds, and they should have at least 51% of their life for good, not bad. Although he did a lot of good for his people, but that was on the expense of those who were not. He saw that he was not perfect, and prayed for God/ Allah to forgive his missdeed toward others, and to forgive his sinns.
That shows that he as well needed the help and forgiveness of God just like everyone else.

2) He mentioned that the only person who was sinnless was Jesus Christ. If Muhammad was such a total bad guy, he wouldn't have said that. Muhammad mentioned Mary the Mother of Jesus many times, and said that she is the most honored women in Heaven. That shows how highy he regard Her.
That shows how he did not regard himself as perfect.

3)In the end of times, Muhammad said that Jesus Christ will be the one who will come back and judge us in the judgment day.
If he was such a horrible person, he could have said that he will be the one who will come back and be judge on the judgement day, not Jesus Christ.
That also, shows how much he regarded Jesus. He could have lied and noone around would have known, just to follow him!

4) He was a human being, he was a great leader, and led his people to a lot of success. Although his people these days are more and more giving him higher regards, some even unaware that they are giving him higher regard than Allah himself.
on this site, someone asked a question and in the question she asked why do you think 'we worship him!!!" after she was made aware of it, she deleted her question.
I think Muhammad would be upset of the things that is going on around the world and the things that is done by some of his people.

5)He adapted his slave. Although it is forbidden to adpot in Islam! I believe he did it because he wanted to do something good for that man. What happened after he adopted him, is another issue. This is a good side of him.
I don't care of the fact that he owned many slaves, but you have to consider that at his time, slaves were considered as properties. The higher in society a person goes up the ladder, the more slaves they owned, and used for the well being of their community. Their time, and their rules.

6)I disagree with many things he did, but I was not there at that time, therefore, I don't know why he did what he did. He must have had his reason for things he did and had to do for his people!

7)He was born to unloving family. His mother gave him up to a stranger to be raised, later his grandfather, then his uncle. Before that. People used to think he was his uncle servant/ slave, and his family didn't treat him right. From all that, he built himself from nothing and made a name for himself. That show a lot of strength.

Two wrongs doesn't make it right. So for the sake of civility, my answer will be intend only for Muhammad and some of the things that I think which makes him a human being, which is no one is totally good nor totally bad.

Prophet Mohammad was demonized by the Christians specially the Catholics during the time of wars between them in the lattewr days of the Anglo-Saxons. Until the present time when they call those who are out of the Islamic belief as infidels and bound only for hell, how can you expect the Christians to be civil?
You as Muslim should start being civil to other religions and you will receive the same respect. Christians seldom say anything bad about the Buddhist; in fact, they even adapt some of the teachings parallel to what Jesus have taught because Christians never heard of any Buddhists speak against them. Start it with you and do not expect anyone to change for you.

mo was certainly a persistent child molester and rapist and he was very good at it.

He led millions of people down the enlightened path of "peace" of the rest of the world. I don't think that the middle East would be nearly as violent without his help over the years

He created the first not-for-prophet countries and he has been directly responsible for more giant leaps backwards than anyone who ever lived.

If those aren't positive attributes, I don't know what is!

Of course the same could be said about the Christians, but at least Christ wasn't a rapist and child molester, he preferred prostitutes! See Mary Mag.

Is not it much easier to recognize that god is about love and faith and the 'good' and that people who act on his behalf have missed the point in the first place!

I am perfectly civil towards Christians without any prompting from you. As a Muslim I have no problems at all with Christians. Have family members who are Christians, have friends who are Christians and work colleagues too. I think you are the one with a problem between Muslims and christian because as a Muslim i don't nor do any Muslims i know. If i want to ask a christian a question i will do it myself we don't need people like you as go betweens.

Its SEN not JEN and your wrong Muslims do not need any "help" from anyone and even if we did we have our own voices to ask with we don't need a third party like you. If I want to know people opinions on our holy prophet "I" will ask them. I don't need "you" to ask on my behalf. Worry about your own self.

I just checked. You are a lady. I would like to give you a great big kiss on the cheek for the question.

I was once Christian..

After much thought and consideration, I took my Shahda.

I am Muslim. now.

That is a positive statement right there.

PS. You people should be ashamed of yourselves. Fruitcake was trying to do something positive. Instead you morons make this into one of the nastiest set of answers I have seen yet in this Yahoo place. It is most interesting to take a look at the THUMBS UP and the THUMBS DOWN on this page. Some of us say very nice things, but we are Muslim and you go no further than that, you hit the Thumbs Down. You are all absolutely pathetic to be so close minded and rude. But then, you are products of America today. You don't know any better.

What's so "positive" about a 7th-century man who had sex with a 9-year-old child? He was 56 years old when this occured. Since when do child molesters recieve "positive" comments? You can throw everything else that he "accomplished" right OUT the window! HELLO!! He had sex with a child! Does this fact not compute with you??? If he were alive today, he'd probably be the creepy guy next door that gets busted for kiddie porn.

Mo was a kind and gentle servant of God who cried when his son died and never hurt his wives physically.

Mo was very honest and highly regarded in his tribe.

Mo was very humble, and gracefully accepted a marriage proposal from a woman 15 years his senior, to whom he was completely faithful.

It was not until after the death of his first wife that Mo took on multiple wives, but he did it to care for the women who had no support otherwise.

Mohammed at least had the wisdom to believe in One God! To teach others that their was only One God! My Lord Jesus teaches me to judge no man! I have never judged the Muslim faith, nor will I. Islam is for peace. My Lord Jesus is for peace and I will follow Him! Amen! God Be Praised through Christ Jesus!
