credit card is always best, you have more rights than if you give a check
also ask the dealer if the deposit is refundable, in California a dealer cannot take a non-refundable deposit but dealers dont always tell everyone that
you can check with your state dmv as well, lastly, check here to make sure you are getting a great price

Once you're happy to proceed you'll be required to leave a deposit for the car with the dealer. Don't pay the full purchase price at this stage. Pay the deposit by credit card if possible for additional protection because if there are problems you'll have a direct cause of action against the credit card company.
You will not get charged by your bank for using your Visa/MasterCard Credit card unless this is specifically stated in
their policy.

In my case i use them instead of cash because I don't carry alot of cash on me. But even at that I still don't spend beyond my means. When I use credit cards I still stick to my budget.

Be careful it sound like a scam, dealerships don't need a deposit over the phone, go to the dealership first. Test drive it, you might find you don't like it anyway. Giving your private info over is inviting hardship. Use your common since and don't forget you have an 18month or 18K miles Lemon Law protection for you, You might consider the book "Lemon Protection Identifying a Lemon" at lemonprotection.com to help you with. Good Luck and GOD Bless

Either way, IF you pay off the debt on the credit card when it hits so you won't have interest to pay. If you pay cash, be sure you get and keep a receipt.

Do not give ANY deposits. Saturn is not such a hot brand that you can't get it once it hits the showrooms. Call other dealers.

You normally have more insurance if you pay with credit card as most of the credit card providers insure against fraud, faulty goods etc. You would be best checking with your credit card company to verify their terms & conditions first.

It really doesn't matter what form of payment you make. Whatever you feel comfortable with.
