if at all possible, i'd like something not so expensive, and something i can find in a store, rather than having to order online...

Hair is dead. Vitamins will not make it grow faster.

"I frequently hear of people taking pre natal pills to make their hair grow faster, even men. The reason that an expecting mother's hair may grow slower or faster has to do with hormonal activity and not the pills. So please, stop doing that."

Treat your hair properly - don't dye or bleach it, don't put strange chemicals on it, use a mild shampoo no more often than three times a week (more often strips the oils needed for "healthy" hair). Hair is dead, as the others say, so it can only look and feel "healthy", but that's what you want. You don't need extra vitamins or herbal supplements for your hair, just be sure you are getting the vitamins you need for general health, either through proper eating or (if really necessary) with a low-dosage multi-vitamin.

Good Stores have a selection and a salesperson who knows a thing or 2 about Vitamins. You can't really go wrong with B-Complex or Citric Acid but be careful with supplements containing metal like copper,magnesium...etc. They are only good for you in minute quantity; Calcium is safe in quantity, so are B & C. Beware especially of purported "miracles" sold OnLine & onTV

When I used to have long hair, the occasional hot oil treatment helped more than anything else to keep it in condition.

I can't tell you what would make it grow faster, but you can't really go wrong by taking vitamin/mineral/amino supplements and eating a balanced diet.

You can take prenatal vitamins to make your hair grow. WalMart also has hair and nail vitamins for cheap and they also work.

The mineral sulfur will help. Thaimin and magnesium also. Take magnesium only before bed - magnesium supplements stretch time and can make you drowsy.
