You will learn by trying to learn a word per day. You don't have to be perfect, you ever heard some Americans speak our language but at least they try. You have a computer, that's all you need. Learn the obvious words, used daily. Have a dictionary with you for the rest of your communication. You must be excited that you're going to Australia, clear across the planet. You plan to go clear across America to Canada as well, that's cool, you may want to learn French, as many Canadians speak French, but you know this. Have fun. If you wrote your own question you're alright already...

Dear Rosi,
Learning English quickly is too diffucult, for me. You know we are foreigner and English is not our mother language.
I recommend to you, watch English Programs, movies, documentary like that.
And of course, you must go to a English Course. For example, First of all, I went to course in Istanbul. (By the way, I am from Turkiye. ) And then I went to England (Bell School in Bath - Bristol )
If I were you, I choose again England instead of Canada or Australia.

Kind Regards,
Tanju

There are many ways to learn English quickly. It is best to learn from a good friend who knows English quite well. If not, try audio tapes. Those are usually better than CDs.
