A friend of mine says this goes on all the time, but I don't think he's right.

It happens, but not among all women. There are as many unscrupulous women as there are unscrupulous men. There are women who are very determined to get what they want, however and whichever way they can. This is a fact and, regrettably, it gives the rest of the women a bad reputation.

Hell no, my boss is gay and in a relationship. And I don't think you should have to sleep with your boss to get the promotion, even if you deserve it and this is the only way to get it, what a horrible way to compromise yourself and your values and self-esteem, unless of course that is something you do already. Regularly, perhaps? I mean, how awful would it be to think "I only got this job because I slept with my boss?" Now THAT would make me feel unworthy of the job, knowing I did not earn it or come by it honestly. But then again, some people would consider 'earning' it, sleeping with their boss. Not me!
