No one has this right yet. Cocoa bean have cocoa butter and cocoa solids, which are both in regular chocolate. Cocoa butter is just fat, and cocoa solids are the brown, chocolate-tasting stuff, like what is in cocoa powder.

White chocolate is made out of cocoa butter. It has no cocoa solids or cocoa extract, which is why it is white and doesn't taste like chocolate.

You have a point, cocoa's brown! But white chocolate isn't actually made from cocoa, so technically it's not 'chocolate'. It's basically just made from milk and sugar (with a few other bits and bobs lol) so that's why it's white not brown!

There is no such thing as white chocolate. There are items that CLAIM to be white chocolate, but these are simply a combination of cocoa butter, milk and sugar and have the consistency of chocolate. See the links below.

Actually unlike brown chocolate, the white kind is made from chocolate extract. You see, the chocolate flavor is first removed from the cocoa beans with a solvent (such as grain alcohol) and the resulting extract is a clear fluid.

white chocolate is not made from the cocoa bean, but it is actually sugars and milk, and the milk is what makes it white. no cocoa! :)

White chocolate doesn't have any cocoa in it. The milk and sugars which actually ARE in it are white, so you get white chocolate! fascinating, huh?
