if hypothetically, you had to compare both seroquel and abilify as a bipolar drug, which would you recommend?

Seroquel. It is less likely to cause major side effects that anti-psychotics typically have. I've been on Seroquel for 3 years now. I've tried Abilify. I had a bad reaction to it.

Well, this is a hard one.

I am on Seroquel and I like it, but I gained quite a bit of weight.

I tried Abilify, but it made me so anxious, it was horrible. But it "supposedly" does not cause as much weight gain.

If you are worried about weight gain, I would start with Abilify and see if you tolerate that well. It is a newer drug and many people like it.

Good luck.

Seroquel. Definitely. Abilify works alright but if I missed just one dose, I was a basket case. Seroquel is doing me justice now! :)

My son takes Seroquel, it works well with his other meds.
