I know that it gets great gas mileage (nearly 90 mpg) however, I am concerned about the damage to the environment from the exhaust emissions. It is a 4 cycle engine and from what I understand that causes less of a problem but I don't really know what that means.

Burning less gas is always better for the environment. Your Vino has a fully modern overhead valve four stroke engine, just like cars. Two stroke engines are bad for the environment because they burn oil along with the gas. Your ride also has a catalytic converter to clean up the exhaust, just like a car. I think you are riding just about as clean as you can, unless you go to a bicycle or an electric scooter.
