I think because it gives people some way to connect with others that share the same beliefs. There is nothing wrong with beleiving in goodness and morality and peace. There are so many different beliefs. Most have a creator or God or a supreme being that sets the rules to follow. Well, maybe man sets the rules but mostly they are there to give people a guideline of sorts. I don't get why muslims want to blow themselves up in the name of "Allah" but I don't think they believe there ever was a son of God either. It can be a very confusing thing but it's good to be kind to others and do good works in the name of God or not in his name just as long as people are happy and nice. I believe in "Creator" and "Mother Earth". I pray usually everyday. I am much happier for doing it and I totally believe in it and "do unto others as you would have them do unto you".Not do something bad to somebody else first just in case. We were all given the gift of life and a purpose on this Earth. My man has no such belief or religion and he cannot understand how I can have faith in something that I cannot see. I feel "Creator" with me always guiding me and taking care of me. I am blessed with so much...I don't mean material possessions either. I hope maybe I helped you a little. I have my doubts about certain religious aspects too but all I can do is pray on it.

First of all there is a very big difference between religion and faith. Religion is (i agree) corrupt, and limited. If there is a God, do you honestly believe any human could describe it accurately, and/ or understand their true meaning. Faith on the other hand is just being willing to accept their might be something bigger than we are!

It has been my observation that people who have a religion in their lives are people who need the added structure that religion provides. They need the sense of belonging and the sense of community that they derive from attending church services. Those who do not attend are benefitting in other ways I assume. I think a lot of people would be helped in their daily lives if they could believe in something.

God is important and Jesus is important.
I want to please God not man.
The only way to find out how to please him would be to read the Bible and to follow it..
In the first century there were people who thought they had a good relationship with god but whom Jesus showed to be badly mistaken.(John 8:41-44) The apostle Paul wrote about some who evidently were zealous about thir faith and obviously thought they had a good relationship with God but who did not understand what was really required in order to have gods approval. - Rom. 10:2-4
Could we have a good personal relationship with god if we treated as of little importance his commandments? One of these is that we regularly assemble with fellow believers.-Heb. 10:24,25.

We all need to have some type of spirituality to fulfill our lives, whether it be a god, worship of the earth or lighting a candle and meditating to relax or minds. It does not have to necessarily have to be a specific religion.

Well, it gives me something to believe in. For me, it gives me something to look forward to after death. I am a Christian, and I know that without my religion, I wouldn't be the same person that I am today. I'd be running wild, probably.

Submitting yourself in a religion doesnt make you loose anything. In my oppinion, it assures me that I will go to heaven, if there is a God. People who dont believe need to understand they can be wrong, and its better to accept cause you never know what is the truth.

religion gives some people a sense of purpose and direction and reassurance as there are so many things in this universe that can't be explained and it feels comforting to people

Religion in general is stupid. It causes arguments and wars. Last time I checked most if not all religious factions are extremely corrupt, ie the Catholic Church and Islamic factions.
