Muslims are people of the faith Islam. Islam comes from the Arabic word Salaam meaning "peace". A Muslim is someone who believes in only ALLAH and that Muhammed(PBUH*) is his slave and messenger. All children are born Muslim. Muslims are people who submit their whole selves to ALLAH in Islam. Muslims believe in the Day of Judgement, ALLAH, all the prophets from Adam to Muhammed(PBUT*), the angels, Jinn, Qur'an, etc. There are 5 pillars of Islam. One is Shada that is "I testify that there is no God but ALLAH and that Muhammed(PBUH*) is his slave and messenger. Two is salat(prayer)5 times a day toward Makkah. Three is Zakat(almsgiving) where Muslims are ordered to give money to the poor and provide upkeep for places of prayer(mosques). Four is Swam(fasting) in two ways:by not eating pork, drinking alcohol, smoking, doing drugs, eating pork and certain other foods, and by not eating and drinking anything for one month(Muslim month of Ramadan) during daylight hours. Five is Hajj(pilgrimage) which lasts for 5 days where all Muslims male and female must make once in their lifetime if they are physically and finacially able to do so. Muslims are taught to take care of orphans, elderly, animals, trees, parents, neighbors. Muslim children take care of their parents when the parents are old.
