three reasons come to mind...
1. Renewable resource - trees are a renewable resource but takes decades to reach a harvestable size.
2. Soil Erosioin - trees and their roots help keep the soil in place by the tree taking the brunt of the rain drops so the soil doesn't get pounded by the rain drops and the roots form a network holding the soil in place. That's why after a forest fire... they plant some type of fast growing grasses so the rain doesn't wash the nutrient rich topsoil away.
3. Trees are part of the local ecosystem. The form the "homes" and the climate for the local plants and animals. Along with this is that most lumber companies are not clear cutting, cutting all the trees from the side of a mountain, as much... They're pulling a percentage of the trees so the local ecosystem doesn't change dramatically.

To maintain the ecosystem. When trees are cut down, it is important to plant new ones to take their place because the old trees helped slow soil erosion and prevent flooding. The trees also help clean the air by their oxygen and carbon dioxide exchange, thereby slowing the creation of the green-house effect and helping decrease air pollution. Trees also shelter and nurture the flora in the forest floor and promote their growth. For the fauna, trees provide shelter and a food source for various species of animals. By replenishing the tree population, there will be a future source of timber, paper products, and other items that require wood as part of their production.

because trees pull co outta the air and replace it w/ o
b/c trees provide shade.
b/c trees provide places for some species to live..
b/c if we cut down all the trees where will we get more trees to make the products made from trees? Recycling only goes so far, and in recycling you lose some of the original product. If there are no more trees, then you'd have a finite amount of resources in which to continue production of paper products and wood products (and that number is FINITE based upon how much people want to recycle the existing paper and wood products etc..)
B/c backpackers and campers like to have camp fires..
hope that helps some..

There is a lot of reasons, the last of which is global heating.
A real estate cutivated with trees is valuable in the long run for the productin of wood.(A barren terrain has a scarce value). The planting of trees has the effect of stabilizing the soil preventina the rush of rainwater. In nordic areas trees prevent avalanches.
The ecosistem is more healty than a barren terrain. Lastly, the growing of trees contributes to the absorption of carbon dioxide.

reforestation is essential but it is not enough we must add drastically to the plants bio mass if before it will make a diference
trees absorb heat in the day and release heat in the night ,collectively produce climates that are suitable for life.
in desserts the nights are below zero and during the days one cooks
precipitation by trees harvest humidity and turns it into condensation which wets the ground supplies the trees and feeds the rivers with the excesses.
evaporation, together with dust particles from the leaves ,seeds the clouds and produces the inland rains ,evaporated waters from the seas only cause coastal rains
apart from that trees produce oxygen ,too which we are addicted ,and absorbs carbon which we produce (now more than ever because of industrialization)
trees produce mists (humidity )which builds our atmosphere and creates a protective cover that shield us from the harmfull rays of the sun
trees give us a shady place to rest with our loved ones ,supply us with wood ,and a variety of fruit and other foods and .
with out trees life on this planet would soon be poisened, burned or frozen.
with less trees we suffer as is happening to many people already .with more trees we stand a chance of recovery if we also employ alternative forms of energy and maintain disapline and restraint with industry and our harmfull consumer habits
Conservation is not enough by a long shot
it is essential ,but even more essential is increasing the biomass and reforrest as well as encourage garden cultures with trees growing where ever possible in the suburbs and cities to produce food , to combat the growing amounts of excess carbon produced by civilization and,to take the pressure of the farmers ,who have to supply millions more people every year and who are forced to farm erosive lands on the mountain slopes, which kills even more trees that are especially instrumental in rain production..

it is ecologically important that trees be replaced when they are abliterated by man. they are part of a larger cycle in the life on earth, and provide food and shelter for many organisms. as for oxygen, they do provide a small portion to the air, but most comes from the algae in the 4 oceans.

2 reasons are: a million) wood take up carbon dioxide and supply off oxygen, so if we plan on respiratory we greater effective replace all those wood that we cut back down. 2) wood are properties for many animals, and whilst they're cut back down, those animals have nowhere to flow. Their habitat is destroyed, for this reason they're in many cases killed via predators or in simple terms die from being moved from their widely used atmosphere. =] desire those reasons are good sufficient

You need to replace them because otherwise you will be creating baron land....
We need trees for the atmosphere. They provide us with oxygen while removing carbon dioxide from our environment....(That is why people always say that they breath better in the country...)
