If I get sent to a collection agency does that automatically mean it goes on my credit report. I got a letter from a collection company and I called the same day and paid it. They said it wouldn’t go on my credit report just as long as I took care of it. Are they ieing. Can they lie about that????????

If your check goes through, you are fine.

If you were sent to a collection agency then it was already a past due debt and is probably already on your credit. Get a copy of your report to see whats on it..you are entitled to 1 free report per year..

Experian 1-888-397-3742

It probably won't show up on your credit report. You should get a report to be sure, get it form the big three credit reporting agencies. If it does show up on the report, you should call the collection agency and ask them to remove it.

like the other person said, if a debt has gone to collection agency it's too late
it will show up as a late, or charge off
reguardless you credit is now compromised due to late or non payment from the orginal creditor

If a collection agent tells you anything, never believe it.

Legally they can put this on your report, even though you paid it immediately.

I have given this advice over and over....never pay a collection agent a dime unless they agree IN WRITING to remove all negative information about your debt from your report. If they do post this, you have no leverage to get it removed.

I would pull a credit report soon. You should have asked for them to tell you in writing that it would be removed upon payment. Yes They do lie all the time.
