The "Wicca is an ancient religion" line used to be quite common among Wiccans; happily, it appears to be dying out. Myself, I think it's only about 60 years old, although it's inspired by older systems of thought and religious practice. I highly recommend the book "Triumph of the Moon" by Ronald Hutton, which intelligently deconstructs the origins of Wicca from the point of view of a professional historian who is not himself Wiccan.
An excellent objective (non-Wiccan) source for information is Religioustolerance.org:
http://www.religioustolerance.org/witchc...
It will provide you with easy-to-understand articles on the history, beliefs, and tenets of the Wiccan religion.
If you'd like to talk with other Wiccans, try the various Wiccan forums over at Beliefnet:
http://www.beliefnet.com/boards/boards_m...
Or feel free to email me if you'd like to talk one-on-one. I've been Wiccan for 13 years and have been actively teaching for the last 5, so I'd be happy to discuss any questions you may have.

Wicca is.....Witchcraft is not merely a system of magic, Wicca is a pagan mystery religion of the goddess and god. It is also a nature religion. The witch is a magic maker and worships a goddess-the great mother goddess- and the horned god. Wicca is based on the remnants of simple pagan traditions handed down in folklore and country custom. Wicca involves the development of magical psychic powers, but hand in hand with the wisdom to use them. An intiatory system of spiritual development is a intrinsic part of the tradition!
read read read everything you can get you hands on, then listen to your inner self !and you will find that because the pagan/wiccan way of life has been there for all time, that you already know and do many pagan/wiccan things every day subconsuasly. the wiccan/pagan way of life is so diverse that every person experiances and way of doing things are so diffrent. I would start by looking up and learning about the year wheel and its 8 celebrations and start following the moon phases and the sabats. Also learn to meditate and get as close to nature as you possably can. I have been a wiccan for 15 years now and i am still learning every day! And to help develop your psychic ability get and learn the tarot cards or tea leaves reading cup or a scrying mirror or bowl (black water) or christal ball.... like i said its all about personal choice, As long as you know that what you give out you get back 3 fold and everything is open as long as its with the best intent and to harm none!! i could go on and on but i wont! hope it helped and you find what your looking for blessed be

Dont Google... you end up with fluffy crap
The creator of Wicca was Gerald Gardner.
Get books from him to create a solid understanding of what wicca first was, then once you have that base understanding expand on to different ideas.
Dont start at some mental case fluffies site, otherwise your going to end up confused, and learning stuff thats not wicca.
Even some still hold fast to the belief that the scholars were wrong, and wicca wasnt created in 1952 by Gerald Gardner, this is usually the tell tail sign of a fluffy or a fruit cake. Steer clear of them until you have a full grasp of Wicca.
Good Luck

Wicca is actually a new religion but their belief in the polarity between the god and goddess is ancient. It's very similar to yin and yang. There's allot of sites that would give you some info on Wicca, plenty of books too.

While Wicca may have been coalated by an English man, it is not an old religion, though it does have old roots.
You can find goo info online, but I would recommend reading all you can, though stay away from Silver Ravenwolf, as she can be rather fluffy.
Some have often described Gardner as rather masochistic and a fan of nudity, but, his basis for Wicca has grown and developed over the years to be a wonderful religion for many people. It isn't for everyone, and you may find it isn't for you, but all you can do is research it for yourself.

Well its only old if you consider something that originated in the 1950's as old. It's a Neo-Pagan religion, if you are looking for old religions, try looking at reconstructionalist Pagan religions.
The best way to learn about Wicca is from reading about it (you can go to Barnes and Noble, they have tons of books on the topic) and talking to Wiccans, and there's some very helpful and kind ones on here.
Just ignore all the fundies posting here.

There are loads of books about it in most decent bookshops. Wicca isn't an evil thing in any way, the whole point is you don't harm anyone which is a lot better than most modern day alternatives.
When a student is ready a teacher will come.

Go to the library or book store and get a book on it.
Or you can look it (and anything else really) up on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wicca
