mine is my mom's... she made it years and years ago by just throwing some different vegetables together. its called soup-de-jour. i don't know where she got the name. we always make it with a huge pot, we put the left overs of turkey in it, and cut up little peices of it and put it in and it boils the meat of the bone. it also has cut up carrots, celary, onions, potatoes, brocelli, corn, barley, beans, peas and colliflour put in it, then put a couple of cans of diced tomatoes and tomato it.e soup in then, after that we put left over turkey stuffing (dressing), and then we put in about 5 different types of beans (which were soaked overnight). then of course we put a whole bunch of different types of noodles in like shells, boetyes, spirals and eggnoodles. when its almost done we put in the spices like pepper, salt, paprica, basil, summer savary and a couple of others. it takes about 4 hours to make but its soooo good. and there is so much of it too.

Campbells Chicken Noodle Soup

I love leftover soup. It's just vegetable beef soup but it's a little different every time we make it because it's just made from leftovers from the week but it always has vegetables, beef or turkey and secret ingredient is leftover spaghetti sauce. Everything goes in the crock pot in the morning and in the evening we add pasta or rice. Since the veggies are already seasoned it comes out a little different each time but it's always delicious. Sometimes I add a package of onion soup mix if we haven't had any onions during the week.

I love homemade chicken tortilla soup. You grill about 2 lbs of chicken(boneless/skinless)in a pan and chop it into small chunks. Put it in a large stock with julienned green and red bell peppers(as many as you like), 1-2 large chopped onions, about 3-4 large chopped tomatoes, chopped fresh garlic(to your taste), and chicken broth(amount depends on whether you want chunky or more soupy). You can also add a can of chopped green chiles if you like. You season with seasoned salt, salt, pepper, touch of paprika, parsley, basil, cilantro, and a bit of sage. Also add some crunched freshly fried corn tortillas(make sure and set some aside to put on top of your serving of soup for some crunch). Cook the soup until the vegetables are tender. Add cheese and sour cream along with the leftover crunched corn tortillas to your serving of soup when finished. Its YUMMY!!!

Mine is 'Thai hot and sour soup with shrimp,' soup that was recommended by my waitress when I had a bad cold. It is made with cilantro, lemon grass, some vinegar, broth, mushrooms, cut bits of jalapeno pepper, seasonings, and shrimp. Very refreshing and guaranteed to open up those clogged sinuses. Also great when it's sooooo brrrrrrrrrrrr outside.

Your 'soup du jour' sounds very appetizing. Your mom's a very creative cook, not to mention probably a good one, too!

Your mom's soup de jour sounds great. My favorites are cream of chicken and clam chowder.

On bitter cold evenings, nothing beats a grilled cheese with tomato or ham and cheese soup.

I like tomato vegetable soup. I just mix tomato soup with vegetable beef soup. If I had time I would make it from scratch if I could find a recipe.
