Somehow your word default template got changed to double spacing. An easy solution would be to search for the default template "normal.dot" and delete it from your computer. If no "Normal.dot" exists then the next time you start word it will create a new blank one with the standard formatting.

Try this:

↓ Format
↓ Paragraphing / Paragraphs
↓ Look for spacing
↓ Ensure that the spacing is set to single lines

If this is the case then check to see which font you are using as some of the fonts i.e Comic Stans will automatically revert to double lines.

Im not familliar with this particular version of word so i might be wrong but...

most word prosessing programs have a paragraph setting tab so my guess would be to check around the options bar or whatever and look for paragraph setting and set the line spacing to either 1
or .5

there also might be a line spacing setting on a toolbar towards the top of your screen
