Since the war started in 2003, nearly 3,100 service members have lost their lives up to this point.
Nearly 105,000 Americans die annually from alcohol-related deaths. Another 45,000 are killed annually from transport accidents. About 47,000 Americans die each year from the flu and a virus called RSV. About 16,000 die from AIDS each year....2.4 million Americans die each year that is not related with the war, yet it seems more people are actively against the war than they are about helping alcoholics, the sick, or helping prevent driving accidents. It makes me question if they're against the war or just America.

You neglected to mention the money that the goverment is spending to keep us in war, and has spent. Imagine how much help we can give to the alcoholics, the sick, and the prevention of driving accidents with all of that money!

And we don't have any business in Iraq anyway. Bush might as well have said so himself when Korea announced that they have weapons of mass destruction and we did not go tearing in there like we did with Iraq--which, by the way, does NOT have any weapons of mass destruction. We've gotten ourselves into a war that will probably never end.

we want someone to blame. alcohol related deaths, sicknesses, aids, etc are all things that are our own fault. but no one wants to put it on ourselves to fix it. the war is something that has been going on for a hellova long time now and everyone is sick of turning on the t.v. and hearing about more marines and soldiers and other service members having passed away because of an IED or suicide bomber. it's easy to blame the government or Bush.

Two things:

One is that the war was voluntary and intentional.

Two is that of all the things you list, none but "driving accidents" is likely to cause death and dismemberment to innocent bystanders.

We can't protect each other from the evils of drug abuse, chronic disease, and bad driving.

We can and must decide when it is worth going to war, and this thing in Iraq was definitely not it.
