Oh no, whoever told you to use baby oil is a fool. That only weighs your hair down and makes it limp and yucky. The best thing to do as long as you DON'T have oily hair, is to wash it the day or night before you want to curl it instead of right before. Hair styles better when it has a little build up of styling products and everyday dirt in it. Sounds crazy, but it's true. Also, if you are using a curling iron, spray the hair before curling it and also while you have it wrapping up in the iron. When you take the iron out, squeeze the handle a little and gently slide it downward instead of "unwrapping" it. DON'T brush you hair. Just flip your head over and shake it a little, flip it back up, spray it once more with cheap hair spray and it should hold most of the day. Oh yeah, don't forget to clean your iron with Ajax sometimes because the hair spray will make it pretty gross after a few times. Good luck!

...I never tried it but would not b/c I don't see how one would figure oil will help a curl to form...but I have tried this stuff called..."curl wax"...it's red and you take just a SMALL amount and wipe it along the hair before you curl it and that stuff helps the hair to hold the curl...although I have ethnic hair...
...you know what though, you could curl it with the curling iron, make sure you leave it on the hair long enough...then pin the curl up till it cools, that will help to "lock" the hair into a curl...you'd do it by rolling your hair up like it's in an invincible roller and pin it with a bobby pin or something...
...yeah b/c alot of time the hair is still so hot and the weght of the hair I think helps the curl to loosen right out...

nope baby oil will only make things slippery plus it will just weigh your hair down. the oil will not help activate the curl. try applying mousse to your hair (damp or dry) before curling it with a hot iron. you can also try l'oreal's new product called hot curls. just spritz some on the section then wrap your hair around the iron. it activates the curl. after curling all your hair spritz your hair with some hair spray for extra hold. you will really need the help of styling products especially if you have super straight hair.
