Herbal substitutes work better than nicotine replacement and alternatives (such as gum). Using an herbal substitute will provide the mouthfeel of tobacco, relieve the cravings (but not the withdrawl effects) and get you clean. The withdrawl effects from nicotine will only last a few days.

IMO the best herbal snuff on the market is Hooch Snuff. It feels the most like tobacco. It got me to quit after 18 years. You can get it at http://www.hoochsnuff.com/

You could try gum, or if you're getting bad cravings use nicotine gum for a while until you wean yourself off.
