Cigarrettes are bad but people do it for a reason. They want to seem cool to other people but they are wrong. Once they start it is hard to stop. The reason that people keep smoking is that there is nicotine and that makes the person addicted. They are just putting themselves in risk of cancer. Cigarrettes can be very expensive and could even put people in risk even if they didn't smoke because of second-hand smoke. It is bad and I don't think they should advertise it and they should sell it less and make the age for smoking a little higher. They should also make less places to smoke. People who don't want to smoke won't like these people because their teeth start to turn yellow and their breath would smell horrible. No offense on anyone who likes smoking though. Basically I think it isn't good and things should be done to reduce the damage it is doing even at this moment.

This is a very general question. I would have liked to have it a bit more specific. but maybe you want a general answer(?).

Well, I am a smoker myself, and I absolutely am annoyed about the price, the health issues and the addictional factor.

However I surely would never have started, if smoking weren't allowed in public places where I come from. In my oppinion smoking ought to be forbidden in public places. I hear comments to this oppinion which state secret smoking at home etc. and youngsters being even more attracted to it this way. Or if their company is inappropriate they will be "made" to smoke.
I don't think it is the case. I for example never came in touch with illegal drugs plain because I didn't want to. Even though I could have, if I had wanted to. I knew enough people who would have provided me with all kind of stuff.
I think it is very much how parents raise their children. If a child learns smoking is bad, they will not meet with people while they are smoking secretly. They can consciously stay away from it.
It is, though, very important not to force it into the child but to have a good relationship to hm/her, because if it might get into a situation of trouble with the parents it might do drugs or smoking or alcohol simply to disobey their parents.

Fist off I do smoke. People smoke for different reason. Some to act cool, other to calm their nerves down, because off boredom or depression. You do not give your age, if you do not smoke know then don't start up. I don't encourage any one to smoke. If you or of legal age then make your own decision about this.

They are very addictive, I come from a family of 8 of them 4 are smokers, of the 4 , 3 have tried several times to quit smoking with no success.

It is an expensive, bad habit and it stinks.

I hope you do not start..................

I don't.

I just light up without thinking about it every hour or two. To me its just a habit.

To everyone who's a non-smoker, its a pain in the a$$ because of the smell and detrimental health effects.

I smoke, but i feel guilty that i am putting my children around second hand smoke. It makes my home and my car stink. I know that I am addicted to cigarettes, and that is why it is so hard to quit, i really havent tried to quit though. They cost too much money, and they are very unhealthy for my body, but I continue to smoke...it is a very strong drug!!

Every time I smoke one I think I should quit. By the way, cigarette is spelled using one R not two. Have a nice day.
