Are you here legally? I would suggest seeing an attorney.

Immigration Office first, get info about form I-360, you will need proof of the domestic violence, not easy but very possible to get your legal status even if you are still with him and even though there has not been any violence since 2002, his not helping you can be considered mental abuse. Good Luck, find a good immigration attorney, but be careful and ask a lot of questions before you hire one. Make sure how much and what you are paying for, try to have him accept half of fee before and the balance after you get your status, doubt you will find one to accept the offer, as they all want to be paid in full just in case you don't get what you want.

OK he should have apply for your green card long time ago just rigth after you got the marriage certificate...seems like he doesn't want you to get you to live legal here..I recommended ti file for a green card in a battered women and First I do recommend it to go to a place were they can help you...Because you nees an expert on this issues..Because if he really was violent against you that is against the law so the VAWA protects violence against women marry to an a citizen...Try to go to a office because to me that is ilegal is like smuging you at home like no wanting to get you legal knowing you are ilegal here...Good luck!!! If he just verbally abuse still is abuse or if he doens't want you to improve yoursself here, first like geting your legal status fix...Because you reported him before that doesn't make any trouble what so ever instead is against him...

Probably the truth. Ask an attorney to get it expunged and get it sealed. Then get legal and pay tax like the rest of us.

If he is your legal husband and a citizen of the United States you can live here. Contact the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) in your area. Take a copy of your marriage license. He will have to answer questions. Be sure you can prove you live with him.

this is very true. my friend's wife pressed charges on him and that is what stopped him from getting his papers. all this information is on your papers you receive to become legal. i know this because my husband is mexican and we have been through all of the procedures to get his papers.

I doubt it is true. I think he just thinks he has leverage about the green card.
