My 1 1/2 year old Dachshund keeps vomiting about once ever couple days or so. I use to think it was because I gave him people food so I stopped doing that but he still gets sick. It's been happening on and off for the past couple months and I've already tried to change his food. I don't really have a lot of money to take him to the vet since I'm a poor college student so I was wondering if anyone knew anything I could give him to help him. Or if you know whats wrong with him. Thanks.

While taking him to the vet is always the best option and if you can find any way to take him it would be for the best. There are a few things you can do if you absolutely can not take him. This could be a number of things. Did he recently have vaccinations because it could simply be a reaction? First, take his temperature with a rectal thermometer. It should be between 101-104 degrees Fahrenheit. Then check the vomit to see if there is anything abnormal. Vomit is normally not an indicator of worms but it wouldn't hurt to de-worm him. Check the stool too and see if there is anything abnormal such as blood, mucus, or parasites. If everything seems normal then it could be stress or stomach problems. Give him an Imodium AD and see how he does for about three days. If he is still throwing up try giving him one Benadryll a day for a week. If he is still throwing up you will have to take him to a vet.

Glad you stopped the people food, it will only cause more harm than good.
When switching foods, it should be done gradually, over a weeks span. Slowly decreasing the amount of the old food and increasing the amount of the new food.
Vomiting is not a good sign. Poor college student or not, this young dog just may need to go to the vet. Also, be sure that the food you are feeding is a high quality food, no by-products ad cheep fillers (nothing bought from a grocery store is good). Yes, it's going to cost more but you will also have a dog that will in turn, eat less and be healthier. BHA, BHT and ethooxyquin preservatives are bad. Find a food with human grade ingredients. Remember, do the change of food slowly, so you don't cause intestinal upset.

Sorry I don't think you have any choice other than to beg, borrow or steal the cash needed for a vet visit.
If this had happened on the odd occasion then you could adopt a wait and see policy, but with it going on for past months I would definitely go.
Food (other than ingested trash) that doesn't agree with him is unlikely to make him sick to this extent by itself particularly when you've changed his diet already

then you really need to take you dog to the vet and tell them what the problem is, and if they don't do anything say "fine refer me to another vet please and give me my dogs records as you are no long my vet!" and if he doesn't do it get the records still then go home (don't bother paying the vet for not doing anything) and start calling around to some other vets and if you have friends with dogs ask them to refer you to a vet, as you all probably don't use the same one until you can find one that will get to the root of the problem.

I'm so sorry. I'm sorry that you can't take it to the vet either. Maybe you have a friend who can it to the vet for you! Find someone who can take it to the vet and give it the care that it needs. Good Luck!
