change your name by dipole and in the eyes of the law you are then Donald MacDonald why not sounds good and will keep the persons name alive in your heart it don't sound funny either you have Ronald MacDonald the fast food chains clown but world famous good luck Dave

If you choose, you can have any name you like for a middle name (or indeed for first name/surname). But for legal purposes, you would need to change it by 'deed poll' - this will legally change your name. Ask a solicitor for advice if you want to change your name via deed poll.

I think a solicitor has to be involved to officially change your name but I don't think it costs that much and it would be a lovely tribute.

You can have any name you like as long as it's not used for fraudulent purposes.
You do know that the prefix "MAC" means "Son of"?

You can call yourself anything you want. However, if you want it to be your legal name, you have to legally change it. Usually a very simple process.
