Martial arts is NOT a religion. When things enter your mind, just let go of them. Avoid getting angry with yourself about it, that is what trips up a lot of people. Concentrate on your meditation. It will come with practice.

Subjective meditation (stopping the thought process) is VERY hard for most people. The few of us who practice it find it to be a rewarding method.

Most people practice objective meditation, where you focus on one thing to the exclusion of everything else; such as a thought, a sound, a candle flame or an image.

the act of meditation is to have no thoughts. so to focus on something, or focus on not thinking, you actually have to think. contradiction. you cant think about not thinking

perhaps the key for you is to let go, and never mind the songs, they will fade soon enough once you let go of TRYING to meditate. the harder you push, the harder the wall becomes.

The key is not to try and think of 'nothing'. Focus on something. If you are preparing to spar, focus on seeing yourself sparring. Concentrate on your techniques.
