recently i was involved in hitting a mailbox that broke the post off but did no damage to the mailbox itself. does that still have to get claimed on insurance?

well l also noticed a little while after the incident that my bumber has a small crack in it from that night does that matter

to tell you the truth i was kinda reckless when driving that night too but im afraid he might sue me or something since it was intentinal.

ok i talked to the guy about the mailbox and actually he was really nice about it and stuff but i forgot to tell him about my minor damage on the bottom of my car does that matter?

No, you don't have to claim it on your insurance, just pay out of your pocket to fix the mailbox. Otherwise, if you claim it on your insurance your rates will go up for three years and could result in about two thousand more dollars out of your pocket.

Contact the owner of the home and offer to pay for the damages. There's no way the cost of replacing the mailbox would be anywhere near the amount of money you will have pay for your increased premiums. However do this ASAP to avoid any chance of you insurer being contacted. As for the damage to your bumper, consider it a reminder of what happens when you drive recklessly (be thankful it was a mailbox and not a person).

I wouldn't file an insurance claim.

Just contact the owner of the mailbox and offer to pay for a new mailbox post. You'll probably end up paying a hundred dollars or so (installed), but it'll be cheaper than having an accident claim.
