The Indian women have many distinguishing signs of being married like sindoor, mangalsutra, bangles etc. How about the married males? If there is no way to distinguish an Indian male's marital status while it is stamped all over the Indian woman don't you think it is unfair?

Indian men don't carry telltale indicators of their marital status. Traditionally, it is the Hindu womenfolk who sport such signs as Sindoor, Mangalsutra etc. But nowadays many modern women are doing away with all these things. You might logically call the distinction somewhat unfair, but then, these are the things that distinguish our women from their counterparts from other parts of the world.

It is 'Sold Out' indicator to others. Hindu widower can remarry but a widow can never. Unaware of it, some rebel women are remarrying now. Hindu marriages are eternal, ever lasting and unbreakable which subsist even in their next birth/s also. Earlier Hindu widows had to burn themselves to ashes in fire (pyre) alongwith husband's dead body. Despite stern laws enacted recently, it is continuing rarely. Child marriage was prevailing among Hindus for centuries and still take place. The few months' aged child widows also had to burn themselves alongwith their child husbands.

However Siondoor,Mangalsutra, Bangles will not disrespect Indian women. It increases their good appearance and people respect them.

Islam does not prescribe any such thing for women. They usually do not appear before others. If they appear so, they cover their bodies. They are bound by specific written teachings and commands of Islam. They do not attract others with their physical appearance or beauty and reserve it for their husbands alone.

There is also marital status for mans too, for example waring rings on his finger and ring on the foot finger for Indian. It is only because at some circumstance they might not able the wear it. In some work place it is not safe to wear ring on our body's. It will be the same situation if a woman working in a electronics company's. It is true, you must start to explore more out from your home and country.

Main thing in most cultures is wedding bend, I am married for about 37 years but I stopped waring it in 1983, after a colleague of mine had an accident and I had a close call in 1982, when my band had deep scratch but my colleague had to have his finger re-attach.

So there are various signs but it is up to individual to observe them. People have good reasons not to follow the traditions.

My wife has a swelling problem from time to time, so it had to go too.

i do agree that it is to some extent unfair that indian women have to wear so many things on them after marriage, the indian society had been a male dominated society, thats the way it has been followen in the indian tradition for centuries, but times are changing eventually , indian women are getting empowered and mordern, usually in urban areas especially in MNC's u hardly find women wearing any of those traditional things
