To the best of my knowledge the Church has not made a position known on medical marijuana/

The Church teaches that citizens must obey all legitimate laws of the community in which they live.

Citizens are obliged in conscience not to follow the directives of civil authorities when they are contrary to the demands of the moral order, to the fundamental rights of persons or the teachings of the Gospel.

The scientific, legal, and philosophical debate is still out on medical marijuana as is shown in the attached documents.

With love in Christ.

The laws against recreational drugs are very good for the increase in the size of law enforcement and the prison system which is in the process of being privatized. US has more prisoners per capita because of it than any other country. If rec drugs were controlled by a just government, like alcohol is then there would be no criminal element involved. As it is, the richest people are enriched by and are in control of this illicit drug trade and everyone else gets the boot heel over it. Your congressman would no more try to end this war on the people than he would shoot himself in the foot with a hunting rifle. If he did he would be a dead man. His career would be over and his family would start dying mysteriously one by one.

I'm no drug user as I believe it is harmful but it isn't nearly as harmful as ruining millions of peoples lives by making it punishable for them to try to change their state with a drug.

Marijuana impairs your judgment, cigars do not. You are not "under the influence" when smoking a cigar. And by the way, in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, smoking is also considered a sin against your body and should be avoided.
