It's not the leading cause. Were you homeless? I was, for three months of my life that I will never forget. The number one reason these people were in that situation was lack of education. I was in and out in three months and landed back on my feet, but some people do not have the skills to do that. I managed to land a job and apartment in three months. Not easy let me tell you.
To reduce the amount of people that have children in homeless shelters would take a six year program. I have already done the math and it will take about ten million to start up for about 40 families. These people will have to get education, no one on drugs would be allowed, no having more kids allowed etc. There would be strict guidelines to follow, but they will get schooling, clothing, food and housing for six years, if I ever hit lotto.
When I do, I will help to rehabilitate the Unites States, 40 families at a time. Wish me luck and say a prayer, cause I haven't hit lotto yet.

I think we need to stop worrying about what other people are doing in their countries and start helping our own people. I work at a homeless shelter and I think people need ALOT moe than health insurance. We need more mental hospitals, free job training, free transportation to help find jobs, free training for making a resume, free training on how to work with people, free life skills training, free drug and alcohol training, free prescriptions. Yes i know I said free alot but if their homeless how do you think they are ever going to get anywhere unless someone has something for FREE.

Currently I live in the highest homeless city in US.To stop homelessness you would have to stop inflation and other things that make United go 'round. Shelters probably need to have classes of some sort to teach the homeless so we can decrease the count.

Health Insurance has nothing to do with it. Homelessness is caused by alcoholism, drug addiction and plain laziness. Cure them and you end the homeless problem.

Health insurance? I would be interested to see where you gathered your facts from. I would venture to say that lack of insurance would contribute their deaths not the reasons they are homeless.
Homelessness exist because there is no compassion.

Get people to care about people. Unfortunately most people don't care & are self centered on themselves. It's that I got mine mentality. This world is full of me, myself & I people. It's a sad growing trend. I was in New York once & was shocked how many people would watch a crime happen right in front of them & just keep walking. It's a sign of the times. This world is going down the tubes.

I visit the U.S. very often because of my daughter who is a citizen. I noticed that most of these people have some kind of mental or psychological problem. Why not put them in institutions and rehabilitate them?

If we handed out a hundred billion dollars do the poorest people instead of spending it on making sure that everyone in the middleast behaves themselves, it would be a good start.
