It really depends on the situation. Who was it that hurt you, and what did they do? Was this a parent, a friend, a boyfriend?

And it depends on whether you really want to forgive them or not. I don't believe that forgiveness is necessary to heal from an event. I believe you can put things behind you without forgiveness. There are some things in this world that just can't and shouldn't be forgiven. Lisa

Since you posted the question here......I say you go out and get a tattoo based on this terrible thing...no matter what it maybe. A competent artist will be able to help you get the idea from your head to skin. Then IF you decide to forgive this person do so.....but then show them the tattoo and tell them "I'll forgive you....but I'll never forget". In fact a traumatic event (death, breakup, infidelity, violence) all of these can make be good subject matter for a tattoo......I say go for it.

U need to just take a day without that person and see how u feel. You will know by then if u can or cant forgive.

Interesting question on Beauty and health. Jesus said whoever forgives will be forgiven. The first step is to have a relationship with Jesus and He will forgive you, and also help you to forgive those who have harmed you.

I also dont see why this question is in the tattoo section. Time heals all wounds. Forgiving and forgetting are two different things.

If you feel that you can truly forgive them and its not because they are dying or something just do it. But you have to mean it. Sometimes its hard to grow up.

I WAS married... he hurt me bad physically and mentally....and cheated too.
I knew I had to forgive him....but I could not. He is evil.

That is not the point though... It will destroy you honey...if you don't.
P.S
I prayed about it... the Lord said

I understand when one can not forgive
It's the heart
That WANTS too that I can work with ;-)
Hope that helps honey.

I know how you feel! That's the conundrum of Christianity. I had some one tell me, "God has forgiven me for what I did to you." In Christianity, all you have to do is be sorry and, since Jesus died on the Cross for all our sins, it's all OK.
