It depends on the breed. The bigger the dog, the shorter the lifespan, generally. But they live anywhere between 10-20 years. Like I said, depends on the size and breed. And of course their care. The better care (vet care, preventitive care, food), the longer the life. I've met an 18 year old Great Dane, which is rare. And he can still walk on his own, he has arthritis, but his owner brings him to the vet whenever he needs it and also feeds him high quality dog food that doesn't include corn and chicken by-products, and the dog is neutered. All these things together can lengthen a dog's lifespan.

This had a lot to do with the breed and the dog's size. The smaller breeds like the chihuahua and toy poodle gave been known to live over 15-nearly 20 years. In human age this range is 105-140 years old. The bigger breeds like the St. Bernard, Great Dane, Boxers, etc tend to last only about 7-9 years on the average.

Probably from 10-15 years although I've known dogs to be older than that. It really depends on the breed. Some really big dogs have weak hearts that can only live for about 5 years.

We have actually shortened our pets lifespans by what we feed them. Dogs who are fed just dry dogfood live shorter than dogs on a diet closer to what they would have eaten in the wild.
I make a homemade feed for my dogs and have had several dogs live to be 17-20 years old.
