Hi...I grew up with GSP's as a kid and currently we have a lab/gsp mix pup. they are fairly easy to train, but you need to be consistent with them. they are wonderful dogs and great with kids and other animals if and I say "IF" they are brought up with other pets. GSP's are very prey driven so they need to be introduced to cats and other small animals early on and taught to leave it. they make excellent hunting companions and are very versatile. you can get a GSP to not only do field hunting but they also will do water retrieves. the longest we had ever owned a GSP was 10 yrs. though they can live longer. they are prone to allergies as well as ear infections. all in all they are a great breed. I wish my mix had more GSP in her instead of lab. she is not the brightest crayon in the box because of her being a stubborn labradork, but I love her all the same. you also might want to go to akc.org and look up GSP's they have tons of info on the breed. hope this helps!

It depends on your experience, and the individual personality of the dog. Another factor is when you start training (dog's age), and the methods that you use. They are very people-pleasing dogs, and they naturally take very well to training.

All dogs are fun, if you approach the situation in the right way! They are a very high energy breed, after all, GSPs were originally hunting dogs. They can be destructive if not kept busy. GSPs do very well in field trials or agility, something that you can do with your dog. Great energy user, and it strengthens your relationship.

If raised with other animals from puppyhood, they are generally very good with other dogs. It all depends on socialization, and the dog's personality.

Generally a long-lived breed, about 12-15 years.

You can get one from a breeder (check out the AKC list), or from Petfinder.com. It's a great site for rescue groups, you can search by breed and your location.

Hope that helps!

Cheers,

Ease of training has to do with the experience of the handler -and- the dog. Pointers are usually good dogs to start out with (retrievers being the only group I'd say that's above this).

Any dog is fun. =)

That depends on the personality of the dog itself.

And that depends on how well they're taken care of,genetics and several other things. A good ballpark range is 10-12 years.

They are very smart, energetic, athletic dogs. They have a lot of personality, they are a lot of fun and they love being with other dogs. They also are very people oriented, make wonderful housepets as well as hunting dogs. They do well in obedience and rally.
They live an average of 10 -14 years.
They need plenty of exercise and they need training(as does any dog)
