Will the National Guard still help pay for college if you do not join immediately after high school?

Short answer is yes.

Longer answer is a little more complicated. Join National Guard and go to school at same time and join Army ROTC. NG will help pay for school in two maybe three ways: One is drill pay, Two is to save a certain amount in college fund which military will match or double, Three is to qualify for GI Bill, must serve 180 days consecutive active duty so check your school options some of them combined with boot camp last over 1 year.

Also after completion of AIT you should qualify for 3rd year ROTC and they pay you E5 pay for training time there after. You will have to commit to 4 to 6 years in NG but it will be as an officer and the pay and treatment is significantly better.

9 Years military active CG 6 NMNG 3 never tore down any houses but saved a lot of lives 137 in Coast Guard and 28 in NMNG.

NMNG activated 4 times for disasters. 1 time for Gulf War 1 (CG called me back for that never left the states...)

The benefits for Peace Corps do not make up for the amount of time and work you will be giving them. In my opinion, it is not worth 2 years of your life working in some 3rd world country for little or no pay.

I would recommend the National Guard over the Peace Corp because of the benefits you will receive in comparison to the work you will do.

The Peace Corps would be better if you are retired. You are very young so there are plenty of opportunities with greater results.

Go and seek a National Guard recruiter and don't be afraid to ask questions. Don't join something because you don't know about your other choices. You may regret it once you're in.

actually, be careful.. Being in the Peace Corps will automatically disqualify you for any military job requiring a Clearance.

But yes, you can get educational benefits from the Guard even if you don't enlist right away.

as long as you haven't any longer have been given any felonies. The nationwide shelter is crammed up good now and is taking no waivers aside from dependents. once you're attracted to energetic accountability paintings interior the nationwide shelter you will desire to look into the shelter's Counterdrug activity stress. The GED Plus software remains being provided and so is the Patriot Academy in case you prefer to spend 9 months for a HS degree. I went to the GED Plus software for decrease than 3 weeks. good now the shelter can no longer enlist GED applicants, in basic terms people who prefer their GED...which does no longer make experience.
