CAULIFLORY is the name for the phenomenon that flowers and fruits are originated from mature woody trunk of the plant (instead of young shoots).

There are several plants that show cauliflory. Perhaps the well known two are,

1. Jackfruit
Botanical name - Artocarpus heterophyllus

2. cacao (the plant which the seed is used to make cocoa)
Botanical name - Theobroma cacao

jackfruit. The jackfruit tree is a species of mulberry tree, and it produces the only fruit that grows from the tree trunk.
