Weddings on a budget...not too far fetched...weddings don't have to be a big gala affair....get input from the kids and some of their ideas....some of the best ideas come from the mouth of babes, sort to speak

We also had both been married before and same situation. We had a small civil service with a justice of the Peace, our kids and 5 friends. Made everyone happy and didn't cost much.

have a small wedding at ur home where only selected people ie the people who matter to u the most are present amybe just ur kids , that way u will save money as well as u can respect ur kids feelings. donot go for a lavish wedding where u feed hundreds of unwanted people. its a waste

You can't compromise?
Have an informal, meaningful, love-filled wedding at home (or somebody's home). Make sure there are lots of photographs for the memories, it'll be a stupendous gift to the kids.

My mom had a reception dinner for her closest family and friends for her second marriage. You can do all the fun stuff, dinner, dancing, toasts and whatnot with out the actual 'wedding'....that might be a nice compromise?

It sounds like a great idea! It doesn't have to be a huge ordeal; just have a nice family party. Maybe the kids see it as a unifying moment between themselves, too? You sound like a nice family and I'm not just saying that.

You can have a small wedding at home, pick out CD's to play, and have a small buffet. This is obviously very important to the kids.

you can have a simple marriage in the courthouse and spend a little money for a nice reception for close friends/family. That way it's not too extravagant or spending too much

Weddings are not about the bride and the groom being happy. It's about the family getting together and celebrating or at least eating a meal together and getting drunk!
