When I watch a DVD, 9/10 times I can watch it without any trouble.

However on the odd occasion the screen will flick onto a blank screen and also the image will jump (as if someone was tampering with the scart lead). Somehow the TV switches from AV2 setting (which allows me to watch DVDs on) to a blank screen and then back to AV2.

I have never experienced this when using my old TV.

I don’t think that it’s the DVD disc itself as I have tried it on another DVD player and it works fine. Also, I have seen what happens when watching a DVD that has dirt on the disc and normally the pictures freezes and starts to pixelate. This in not the same interference I am seeing though.

I have cleaned the DVD player with a special DVD cleaner and also checked that the scart plugs are in properly.

I have filmed the problem so I can direct it to you through ‘YouTube’ so that you can see what I mean if you wish.

Any ideas?

I got the filling that the setting for color cut off to high. Before the picture goes blank is the picture your DVD display has dominant white color and very bright? If it is than I think you need to call the service guy to readjust from service menu.

As an audiovideophile I can tell you that this is not normal. As I have always been a SONY TV lover for many years, I have seen more problems with their sets in recent years with the newer technologies. I now own a Sony Hd "tube" set, and just like its DLP, and LCD counterparts...the picture is the best in the business! My belief is that outside of the 'shot in the dark' possibility that you may be having a problem with some other remote signals your set is picking up, or maybe your own remote, you should contact someone on either returning your set or having them fix the problem!
Many companies including Sony have been under such pressure to bring product to market to keep up with the falling prices that even Sony is suffering in terms of quality control.

Good Luck!

i presented a Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 liquid crystal demonstrate television acceptable after Christmas on sale for $2,199 US. that's the kind with 1080p determination, that could be useful as immediately because the Blu-Ray/HD-DVD wars settle out. It also handles 1080i and 720p all acceptable. the photo is gorgeous and the television has quite some enter options. I regarded for 8 months for the spectacular television and waited for prices to drop. I nonetheless did not opt for to pay as a lot as I did, yet i do not remorseful regarding the acquisition one bit after seeing it in action. this may be an exceptionally good television!

Sound like some sort of interfence from another remote control,

But if you use a dvd upscaling using hdmi, not only do you get a better picture, and making the most of a great tv, but be using a different input too, which might reslove the problem.

hope this helps

Try giving your local Sony Service Centre a call - it could be software related. Sony have been having quite a few software related issues of late with more products than they would probably like to admit too!
