A kit is a set of parts to build something, in your case, a model airplane. The disadvantage is you have to put it together to make it a model airplane.

Today, model airplanes of all types come to you in several ways. You can buy plans and cut out and assemble the parts, called "Scratch building", or you can buy a "kit", which has all of the parts already cut out and you assemble the parts per instructions, or, you can buy what is called an "ARF", which means, almost ready to fly. In that case, the model is already assembled and all you have to do is add the other major parts, like engine, wheels, radio, and the like.
So, each item has both advantages and disadvantages.

they are just like normal planes, except that they cant fly. It is just like a toy for display. The disadvantages is that it does not have everything a real plane has to work.
