Dear,
The fear of God is not the fears of man.
To fear God is to give Him your reference, respect, as you do your parents. For He is the Father who created us. We are to HONOR Him in our lives since He loves us and created us. NOT fear what He can do to us.
The fears of man are destructive not only to the spirit/soul, but also to the human body. Look at what depression, anxiety, and other things do to a person physically and mentally. This is WHY God tells us there is NO FEAR in Him and for us NOT to fear. He knows it is not good for us. That is WHY the fear of God is FAR different from the fears man has as a mortal being.

Because of certain limitation which God Himself created upon human kinds. There are Ten Commandments which we have to respect, as such we may love God for His kindness but fear for His commandment because at any moment we may commit a mistakes against His will which means a Punishment and we may at any cost will do the offence with the power of satan or devil who have half of the power of God with crores of assistance. God is our true protector so long we obeyed His commandments or else we may get eternal punishment. Our love to God means we are fear and respect God. So honest people are always fear and respect the Govt. rules and regulation
in our society ,set an earthly example for the love of our nation and Government.So as the fear of God is a heavenly matter.

"FEAR" is in you. Your conscious is your fear, you can call it your SOUL or your INNER (Atman). Your mind is passionate and reflection of all desires. You have stored so many desires for so many lives. Those are may be today GOOD or BAD.
example: when you were young, you had desire for very expensive thing. You always dream of it. Now someone has came to you and ask you to take care of his things for a while which you always dream for. Now your all suppressed desire become very intense and you like to do what you are not suppose to do it. You are not scared of that negative desire but your conscious is feeling either guilty or you feel uncomfortable inside. So that is your innerself (Atman or GOD) saying something where as your passion (mind) is asking something.
This is the difference of GOD and EVIL.
You are still not aware to recognise these signals so you call it you are scare of GOD or you have fear of GOD.
As you said, almighty GOD is very generous and loving. You don't need to have any fear of GOD. If someone is saying so, that is wrong understanding of this person.

In the name of Allah the most Gracious the Most Merciful, this
is what a Muslim pronounces when he/she undertakes any
action at any given time,this is a way of acknowledging the
blessings that God almighty has bestowed upon us and an a
reliance upon Him[ glory be to him ].Allah[ subahanu wa ta'ala] is
the most merciful of all those who show mercy and there fore
out of his mercy he asks us to fear him as He [ glory be to him]
alone knows the punishment he has in store for us.By fearing
HIm alone you obey him and submit your self to Him[ swt ]
and you are comsidered to be in a state of Islam. The devil then
loses his power over you as out of fear and love of your lord
you are eager to do good deeds that pleases him and Allah has
told the devil that he would be able to mislead and decieve only
those Wicked people who do not believe in Him, as their only
lord and God ,but for those who Believe in his oneness and
pray, and do good deeds The devil would not be able to harm
them in the least bit.So fear Allah as all power and might belongs
only to him. Read a translation of the holy Quran to understand
why God almighty has asked us to fear him.

IF you cover yourself in the armor of the Lord through daily studying and application of God;s word, you will have nothing to fear of satan, because he will not be able to penetrate that armour of God that you are wearing. It is only when you stop reading and applying God's word to your every day life that satan can slip into the tiniest crack in that armor and cause you to fall short of God's glory.

We should not fear evil either, as I'm learning that only gives evil
beings more strength. It is not easy, as our body reaction is to be afraid when dealing with such things. But we should learn to channel the energy and send them Love. This will defeat them, as they will run from Love. Someday, when there are enough
spirits back on our Creators side. We might be able to transform the evil ones left, through Love, and bring them back

Ofcourse Allah is the most merciful and gracious. and we must love him -Ta'ala -. when we do something wrong we should have a fear of losing his bless. and be lost.
about the devil no we shouldn't fear him at all as long as we know Allah and we pray to him . cuz the devil is a creature just like us . not exactly like us but i mean he is a creature . and Allah can destroy him in a small word from him - Subhanah-.

We fear the god but not the devil because we do the work in favour of the devil so we fear the god and not the devil.

i think we translate it to fear,ok,there is fear,but it's more like love and respect .God is great ,merciful and generous.but also not to fear him is not right.reasonable fear i mean.even God doesn't like it when someone is obsessed by fearing Him,that he can't do anything.we don't fear the devil coz he or it is simply weak.we are much stronger than the devil.we are taking God's side,the greatest and the most powerful and secure side.the true side.Allah Hafiz.

FEAR IS OF 2 TYPES: FEAR OUT OF IGNORANCE AND FEAR OUT OF RESPECT & LOVE. WHEN WE KNOW GOD AND WE LIVE IN HIS TRUE MERCY AND GRACE, WE FEAR GOD.
The Bible says in Proverbs, "The fear od God is the beginning of knowledge and wisdom."
Those who believe in God and love Him with all his/her heart knows that there is God Almighty to protect him and he doesn't need to fear the devil for God crushes the Devil under oyr feet.
so don't fear devil for he is the defeated one and God Almighty is your supporter and Comforter.
