Dental fees vary according to the area that the dentist is located in. "High rent" areas will have higher fees because it costs the dentist more for his rent and staff salaries. In Southern California, the average cost for a porcelain/high noble metal crown would be somewhere in the area of $900.00, prophylaxis average around $75.00-80.00, root canals around $550.00 to $850.00 and fillings will depend on the type of material used. These estimates don't take in to account any insurance benefits you may have, as those depend upon the coverage you have. Hope this gives you a ballpark figure and again, it depends on how much the Dr.'s overhead and qualifications are.

cost me about $250 for what my insurance doesn't cover for caps /crowns. Fillings are covered under my HMO dental plan. I find my dentist tends to ignore cavities so he can get more money for caps/crowns though. just found this out. so, I think he gets reimbursed more for more work.

Depends on the insurance company you have. So really, it varies from person to person.
