I don't mean an object by that, love is also an 'it': Genderless.

How could God have a gender when according to (almost) every religion, God has no body?

Personality does not make a person male or female, only the body does. There are boyish girls and girlish boys.

Unless you are seriously speculating that God has genitalia, God is an 'it.'

Oooh sorry, yeah, Jesus would be a 'he.' I still don't think, whatever Jesus calls him, that God could be a 'he' because male = male body. Masculine personality maybe, but not male.

Man was created in God's own image. The First human was a man. Logic dictates then, that God is a man. Gen 1:26 "Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness..." You are painting God within the constricting limits of human understanding. The reproductive organs was placed on the human body for a purpose, and that is for populating the earth. If God in his infinite powers wanted to populate the earth Himself. He could do so with a snap of a finger. And that is where God's love for his human creations, his earthly children comes in. He gave them the ability to procreate, making it one of the most pleasurable activity humans can indulge in but with certain limits. Having children is second only to man's innate desire to live. God gave Adam and Eve his blessing by joining them in marriage so they can have children and populate the earth, the limit being that sexual activities be limited within the confines of the marriage vows.Gen 1:28 "God blessed them (Adam and Eve) and God said to them, "Be fruitful and become many and fill the earth and subdue it."...At the same time in Hebrews 13:4 "Let marriage be honorable among all, and the marriage bed without defilement , for God will judge fornicators and adulterers." That is why God cannot be an It. It denotes someting undefineable, something that cannot be categorized, a word with derogatory overtones. GOD IS GOD...

"It" is a man-made word used to define something that is either inanimate, like a table, a box etc. etc. or a living creature whose gender cannot be specified for whatever reason. We even call a baby "it" when we are speaking generically, and not referring to a particular baby whose sex we know. Unfortuntely so many people seem to think of the word "it" as insulting or demeaning. It's not, guys, it's just a word - a tool that we use to clarify as best we can a particular thing.
Sexual differentiation exists in living creatures to separate their reproductive roles. Males and Females contribute their half of the material, and then go on to perform different functions in the nurturing of the newly made member of that species. Absolutely nobody, alive today or who ever lived, has any knowledge, or proof of any kind that the being we call "God" has a sexual identity. Indeed, why would God be of either sex? Again, creatures are divided into male and female in order for them to come together and contribute blended reproductive material. Heck, why would God have to go to that trouble? Doesn't It just snap It's metaphorical fingers and zap into existence whatever it wants to create?
As the questioner rightly says. "God" is defined by virtually all theistic religions as a "supreme being" without physicality. An "intelligent force" a "Being of Light" an "Omnipotent Entity" etc. etc. Hence this
God" would have neither male, nor female body parts because It HAS no carnal body.
Beside the fact that you can hardly "insult" a Supreme Being, whether or not you believe in that being at all, it certainly is not an implied insult in any way, shape or form, to define God as "It". Supreme Beings do not need to have sexual characteristics, so unless and until, somebody can come up with that unfortunately uninvented word to describe a non-sexual entity, "It" is the only word we have.
Hmm, I just thought of something. I was wondering if there could be a word that combined all three categories male, f emale, and it. How about "Sheit" ? Ya got the "he" ya got the "she" and ya got the "it" all in one word lol.

God is not genderless. He is male. If He were female He would be a goddess. He also is referred to by His Son Jesus as Father and not Mother. The title of God of which He gives Himself clearly indicates His gender as being male. He also made man before He made female and also stated that because God made man before He made female that man would have authority over women. and He explains why...

1 Timothy 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

1 Timothy 2:13-14 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

God does have a body, he is infinite and invisible to us (Romans 1:20) however he is made up of three parts, the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit. Each part has a specific job. The Father is like the head of God, he controls and knows everything. The Son is Jesus, God sent him as a sacrafice for all of his people to be saved, Jesus is God in human form. The Holy Spirit is in all Christian's hearts. The Holy Spirit leads the Christian body (the church) to do what God wants them to do. God has a body, it's just more complex than the human body. Thanks for reading.

In the English language, if the gender is unknown and a proper noun is required, the male form is used.

Also, when Chrsitianity was in the beginning stages, the people who came up with everything were all men, and thought it best that God be a He, because back then, who in their right mind would believe that the creator was a woman? The woman would, but men were in charge of everything, including the women. To keep it believeable to the bosses, God was a He. Once again, the oppression of women in our history.

We should also notice that whatever material we have right now about God resulted from a series of translations of different texts and we don't even know if there was a he she it distinction back then.

Also, another explanation might be because the concept of God was usually used as societal control, he was perceived as he because kings are supposed to be male and God was perceived to be a ruler - a king.

I don't think God has a gender as we know it. In the Bible it says the he is both male and female.

He became a He to us because Jesus refers to him as "the father" being that Mary is the mother. That means he has taken what would be the male role in our world. Also, Jesus (also God) is male.

I don't think God has a gender. It's our limited thinking that makes us think God has to be male (or female). Most human cultures are male dominated, so it's only natural they would think of God as male, but God is above our descriptions and concepts.
