I understand that the UK govt has refused on behalf of the british serviceman to accept this payment whereas all other nations employed by the UN get this bounty. If this is the case it must be cheaper to send the Brits into conflicts everytime.A very noble stance - but do the politicians refuse to accept european perks?

The British army are paid overseas allowance by the government and are generally well paid.Some of the other forces are paid a pittance and are conscripts.I know that conscripts from Turkey where I am an ex.pat dont pay their conscripts.If the UN want to pay these men so they can buy a few comforts whilst on active service then good for them,

The only reason U.K troops don't get this bounty is because, we are one of the very few full time Army's, we are not mercenaries.

I don't believe Canadians get any extras, other than their usual danger pay.
