I had never heard of it before a few days ago but it sounds like a breath of fresh air. I applaud the idea that religious people don't need to be scared of science or knowledge or reason.

What say you?

There is no conflict between evolution and God, only between evolution and a strictly literal interpretation of the bible.

It is a great but not new idea.

Recently I read a statement from a creationist who claimed that scientists are being dishonest when they talk about evolution. This person believed that evolution was being misrepresented to the public. The real problem is that the public, and creationists, do not understand what evolution is all about. This person's definition of evolution was very different from the common scientific definition and as a consequence he was unable to understand what evolutionary biology really meant. This is the same person who claimed that one could not "believe" in evolution and still be religious! But once we realize that evolution is simply "a process that results in heritable changes in a population spread over many generations" it seems a little silly to pretend that this excludes religion!

Scientists such as myself must share the blame for the lack of public understanding of science. We need to work harder to convey the correct information. Sometimes we don't succeed very well but that does not mean that we are dishonest. On the other hand, the general public, and creationists in particular, need to also work a little harder in order to understand science. Reading a textbook would help.

About ten years ago I gave a talk on Earth Day at the church my father was attending. I was surprised by the level of interest in the subject matter and I got some really great questions.

The article states that 10 000 ministers have signed a statement accepting the fact of evolution and that to reject it “is to deliberately embrace scientific ignorance,” -read it and weep creationists. Your days are numbered.

I like the idea, on weekends on the summer i take my son to the zoo, and show him his "common ancestor" genetic relatives, the chimp and the gorilla and orangotang, and say this is our genetic cousins and going back we have a common species,

I had been thinking of going to one (even though I haven't been to church in 14 years) just to see how they did it - and how much they got right. But no churches within an hour of me (and there are easily a hundred within an hour of me) were participating.

It's a start. Now just get rid of the ministers and the churches, and you've got something!

I think it is hilarious that Atheists give creedence to the faith in their attempts at discrediting it by choosing Sunday as the day for it.

According to Scripture NOTHING evolved but everything was created "AFTER THEIR KIND"....
"From the beginning of the Creation God made them male and female..."-- Jesus (Mk. 10:6)
Scripture says God SPOKE all things into existence with His Word:
" By the Word of the Lord were the heavens created, and all the host by the breath of His mouth. For HE SPAKE AND IT WAS DONE; HE COMMANDED AND IT STOOD FAST". (psalm 33:9)

Great scientists like Johannes KEPLER saw God's magnificance and constantly gave praise to God Almighty for his wonderful laws built into nature. He was a creationist.

So was Isaac NEWTON.......and he wrote 1 million words about his LITERAL belief in the Scripture. He was a creationist.
" I have a fundamental belief in the Word of God....I study the Bible daily". - Isaac Newton

The electromagnetic equations of James Clerk Maxwell attest to the Magnificant mathematical inginuity of the Creator.
He was a Creationist.

Its only the ignorant who can't figure it out.
