If it is a 2003 or newer caravan with a 3.3L or 3.8L Make sure the system is not low on fluid (duh). then make sure the dealer has performed the recall on the Power steering return line to the reservior, second there is a TSB (technical service bulletin) the dealership can do that should help with the noise. If that doesn't work, then the check ball inside the the reservoir gets gummed up over time and causes noise. replace the reservoir. If the problem still persist then the pump "end play" is excessive and the pump needs to be replaced. Dodge has an on going problem with power steering noises in caravans.

Sounds like you are low on fluid. You didnt say what year it was, but whats real common on caravans is the rack and pinion leaking into the dust boots on either the left, right or both boots. Most of the time its a phantom leak, never any fluid on the ground. I agree pumps are common also, but usually they will have visual signs of leaks on the ground. Do a visual inspection of the fluid level inside the pump, if low, check for any external leaks in the system, if none can be found, remove the left and right dust boots( they slide over the inner tie-rods ends), if the rack is bad, fluid will pour out onto the ground.( ps, if it is leaking there, it may be under an extended warranty)

Check the power steering level. If you fill it and makes that noise the next day you'll want to have that checked. Either your pump is bad, or the steering gear is bad. Or one of the hoses are leaking. I own a 84 ram and just had the problem fixed. Get it fixed now. The more you wait the worse it's going to get and the money you'll spend on parts.

low on power steering fluid look for a round cap, should be at the front of the motor on the right side. If fluid level is fine might need a new pump.

Check your power steering fluid. If the fluid is good, it could be your power steering pump going out.
