Sometimes after people get sick they get a coldsore on thier lip, and i was just wondering if there was something you could put on the coldsore to make it go away faster??? Or maybe something you could pt on your lip before the coldsore comes so it wont come at all???
Ex: you can put toothpaste on a pimple so the redness goes down!
Thanks in advanced!!!!

At the first sensation of it coming, very warm water in a coffee cup and hold it on the lip for as long as you can stand it. Staves it off for some reason. Either it will be smaller or if you are lucky never develop. Can actually lessen the intervals they come the more you do it.

Tea contains tannic acid and it has been suggested that tannic acid possesses antiviral properties (some over-the-counter medications for cold sores contain tannic acid). Placing a tea bag on a cold sore when it first begins to form (especially during the Tingle stage) can possibly help to minimize the extent to which the lesion will develop. One should position the moistened tea bag (regular black tea like that used to brew ice tea) on the area where the cold sore is forming for a few minutes every hour.

Take some L-lysine... an amino acid that you can find in most health food stores. It will keep the cold sore from being able to digest it's "food" which is L-Arginine.
You can also take Red Marine Alge( get it from the health food store too) It will help to kill the virus.

Cold sores are caused by a herpes simplex, not the same kind of sexual herpes. People get them when their immune system is down a bit. There are over the conter products you can use to get rid of it. I do not know of anything to prevent the cold sores.
