Bernard Matthews has not taken responsibility for bird flu for the simple reason that the company has no interest in animal or human health.
All that it is interested in is making as much profit as possible through keeping costs to a minimum. This it achieves by keeping birds in highly intensive farms and employing cheap labour from Portugal.

its early days yet but it certainly seems the import of food inspection was a bit casual
