Islam is a very misunderstood religion. As a muslim, it's hard today to sometimes even admit that you are a muslim because of what other people will say or do to you. Islam was a very peaceful religion and still should be, but the only thing that most people know about it is what they see being broadcasted on television about terrorists and bombs. You all probably even think that America is fighting in Iraq because of 9/11. Well, you're even wrong about that. None of the hijackers from 9/11 were from or tied to Iraq. George Bush just likes to drop bombs on people and now wants to do the same to Iran. If a war should have been started about 9/11, America should have attacked Saudi Arabia because 15 of the hijackers were from that country, but Bush won't do that because if Saudi Arabia didn't give money to the US then th economy would plummet. To people that aren't Muslim, we don't comdemn your religion so stop doing it to ours. And to all the people saying that Muslims are supposed to kill the non-believers, this doesn't mean Christians and Jews...it means people that don't believe in God, Atheists for example. Try learning some good things about Islam and stop listening to what you hear on Fox News because they can bend the news. Not everything you hear or read is true.

I think it's time for the Islamic people and culture to more loudly condemn their radical Mullahs, Governments, terrorists, and anti-semitism. I think all religions are equally silly, but the Muslims seem to have a higher percentage of whackos then most other religions.

I suspect this has a lot to do with material conditions in their home nations. Muslims in western, wealthy, nations don't seem to engage in this behavior. It isn't Israeli Muslims doing this. It isn't American Muslims doing this. The reason is because the material conditions in those nations does not lead to desperation and radicalism to the level that it does in other countries.

Islam is misunderstood by many people who do not practice it, distorted by the media to benefit certain governments and abused by some extremists with a political agenda. My personal opinion of Islam is good, but that is primarily because my husband is Muslim and I see the best side of Islam through him. While I know there are evil people who use Allah and the Qur'an to reign terror in the world, I also know that the vast majority of Muslims are wonderful, peaceful, loving people.

that's as far as my thoughts on islam go usually unless someone is asking me or telling me something about islam then a whole mess of things can come to mind.

none of the three major Abrahamic religions give me the warm fuzzies. Judaism, Islam and Christianity are all very self righteously aggressive religions and all three have committed horrific atrocities in the name of their version of that nasty old desert deity, Yahweh.

PS. i hold no animosity towards the good and peaceful people of these or any religion. i just fail to understand how good and peaceful people can, in all good conscience, continue to adhere to religions that advocate elitism, bigotry and violence against nonbelievers.
