Both pizza delivery restaurants and police stations get many calls per day. The pizza deliveries usually take much less time to complete than police visits do. Police have to investigate what's going on, talk to the people who are there for details, and fill out quite a lot of paperwork. Pizza delivery people usually just exchange the pizza for the money and drive off to the next home. They get to the next house more quickly because they usually have more time.

Simple, a pizza delivery man prioritizes his deliveries by distance. A police dispatcher, not the actual police, prioritize calls based on importance. If a person calls in saying that there is an armed gunman in their house and another person calls in saying that their car window has been smashed. The call about the gunman will take priority because there is a person in physical danger. If multiple calls come in that take more priority than your non emergency call then you might be waiting for a long time.

Beleive or not cause there is more crime than there are cops. Most cities try to employ one cop per 10,000 citizens. Remember not all of those hired work at the same time either. For example I work in a city of just over 200,000. We generally have up to 39 officers on duty during our busiest shifts, which there is maybe 4 or 5 hours when this overlap occurs. After that we go back to about 26 officers. I think we answered just shy of 200,000 calls for service last year. If your in a large city good luck.

Probably because there are more pizza delivery people than police officers and the pizza delivery people don't have to respond to 911 calls.

If they arent' there in 30 min or less your pizza is free?? But I guess the same could go for a criminal breaking in, lol.

JOKE: an old man calls the police"there is somebody breaking in my shed", response: the police are on their way.
After a few min. the old man calls again: "maam where are the police", response: sir there is nobody available in your area, they will be there as soon as they can.
A few min. later, the old man calls yet again: "somebody broke into my garage so I shot them all".Within min. the entire police force arrives and they catch the burglars. The ask the old man: I thought you said you shot them, he responds: I thought you said nobody was available.

There is a financial incentive for quickly delivered pizza -- warm and quick pizza means higher tips and satisfied customers.
Police act on "triage" -- much like hospitals. If you're stone dead, or if it's just a stray dog call, it won't get as high priority as the call for the burglar in THE HOUSE RIGHT NOW WITH A GUN TO MY HEAD AND HIS PANTS AROUND HIS KNE-- *click*!!!

The kind you buy at the store, we live next door to a store! One time our pizza arrived by Courier, we had to pay the company. The Pizza delivery guy was sick that night.
