A great way to pick color from home is at behr.com. They have all the colors and even show them in the space. You also can pick co-ordinating trim and ceiling colors. Many of the paint brands now have this tool.

with the room being small you need to make the primary wall color fairly light. dark walls will make a small room look even smaller. if it is for a bedroom perhaps you can paint a light cappuchinno almost a caramel color and then perhaps do a paint stripe or color block with the darker browns or hunter green. just be adventurous. it is only paint. if you dont like it then redo it. it is a very inexpensive way to be creative and very forgiving as well. have fun and enjoy your new bedroom...

I'd stay pretty neutral or use very light colors. Neutral, beiges and taupes, are a good base color. Then you can add color with accents (lamp shades, pillows and bedding).
