My ex's birthday is coming up and he will be working abroad on his birthday. He sent me a birthday card last year so I guess I should send him one too just to be nice. But it will be a little too late to send when I get the address. So I am wondering if I should call his cell phone and wish him happy bday.

I know sending e-cards is also an option but just think it is kind of impersonal.

So does a phone call sound proper. I don't want him to get the impression that I want to get back together with him.

We are still friends and talk from time to time.

I wouldn't, it hurts having your ex treat you like a friend. men only send cards to people they REALLY care about. so if you don't care that much, don't. unless you want to get back together.

If you guys are just friends, I wouldn't worry about it. Just say happy birthday and be done with it.
