I disagree with those who say that you should not know. I think you should know so you can be prepared. Whether you accept the truth or not or continue to see the Book of Revelation as cryptic babbling is up to you.
The future of Mankind is prophesied. After the Rapture occurs, the Tribulation begins and 21 judgments are handed out to Mankind in order to get their attention.
During this time hundreds of thousands of people turn to Christ as their Savior and beheaded for their belief and the rest of world worships the Antichrist and takes the Mark of the Beast in order to buy, sell, or trade.
There are 2 witnesses and 144,000 "sealed" Messianic Jews who are God's evangelists during this time period, as well. The Two Witnesses are killed by the Antichrist and the evil people in Jerusalem celebrate for 3 days and do not bury these prophets' bodies but after that period the Witnesses are resurrected and transported to heaven. An earthquake then occurs which destroys 1/10 of Jerusalem.
Revelation lists all 21 judgments and tells about the Battle of Armageddon, the Millenial Reign, the War after the Millenial Reign, and the Great White Throne Judgement .
The Great White Throne Judgment is where all those who have done evil or have never accepted Jesus as their Savior are judged and sent to Hell while those accepted Christ are with Him in Heaven and while He creates a new Heaven and Earth.
Where will you go ?

Revelation means to reveal or to make known. Many people understand it quite well. Students of the Shepherd's Chapel.
It isn't cryptic babbling. Babbling is what the unlearned and confused do. Babel, Babylon means confusion. Here's the website which brings clarity to that great book:

1. None of it is cryptic.
2. It has little to do with the past and mainly deals with our future.
3. with a little study and understanding how to read a bible, it is pretty simple to understand.
4. in a nutshell, it deals with the the mark of the beast, something that will be needed to control people- without it you cannot buy or sell.
The MANY signs of the end times- for example, one of them is the drying up of the Euphrates River. If this happens, good, it means Jesus is drawing nearer !
The world will be like in the days of Noah- almost no true believers- like it is now. People prone to violence , murder, etc. The coming of Jesus fro mheaven, on a white horse, cutting down every enemy, until the blood in a paricular field is as high as a horse's bridle ( pretty deep ). For some strange reason, the entire world will unite under the AntiChrist to go to war against Israel- another big no no. Doing this means trying to go against God. Mystery Babylon- Rome- the catholic church will be a player, as well as the false prophet's followers - islam.
Those with the mark will have a terrible plague/ disease set against them. 100 pound fireballs will fall from the sky, killing many people.
Jesus resurrects all of the saved people who are dead- those living at that time ( which will be almost no one - maybe as few as 8 in the whole world ), and they are made into a perfected body- like Jesus' when He was resurrected.
Everyone will live here, on the new earth, which is what most ignorant people refer to as 'heaven', but it's actually right here on this planet. We will live with Him 1000 years, Satan will be imprisoned for that time period. When that happens man will finally see his immense error and try to repent, but it will be too late.
There will be no need for the sun, because of Jesus' 'light'. The earth will begin a process of renewal.
After the 1000 years, everyone will be resurrected. This is the White Throne Judgement. The lake of fire will be there- what most ignorant people refer to as 'hell', is actually a massive lake of fire. Everyone is judged according to their works and there is great sadness. Those who are not saved are placed into the lake of fire, where they will 'burn up like chaff' = poof, they're gone. No eternal torment and pain, etc.
God doesn't hate us or want to torment us or put us in agony, but we will be destroyed if we don't follow Him- we will die the 2nd death. He does love us.
Death and sin are destroyed forever. The new city of jerusalem comes down to earth.
The world will be perfected and God will return to the earth to be with us. The lion will lay with the lamb in peace and harmony.
PHEW ! I hope you appreciate all of that.
It's all there in the book of revelation, read and study your bible, use the footnotes and cross references and pray to God for understanding, through Jesus' name ( as He taught us on his sermon on the Mount ), and you will find what you're looking for.
Peace.

AMEN! to your answer Classy! It appears foolishness to the unsaved especially, and even to some Christians who've heard it can't be understood, but don't let satan deceive you. He doesn't want you to learn of his eternal doom! Revelation was written at a time of severe persecution to the 7 churches in Asia Minor. John, a friend of these persecuted Jews had to write in apocalyptic form, a type of Jewish literature that uses symbolic imagry to communicate hope to those in the midst of persecution. Because of the persecution, he wrote in a way that at the time, Domitian, the Roman Ruler would not understand for the safety of the Jews, but that the Jews could understand in order to give them hope in their hopeless, persecutions. Also, John had to write about futuristic things he's never seen, etc to the best he could. IF it cannot be understood by us, then why is this THE ONLY BOOK that God offers a "blessing to those who read it and take it to heart what is written in it"??? Don't let satan take this blessing away from you by beleiving his lie.

Jonathan Kirsh's new book "The History of the End of the World" is a wonderful history of Revelation and the attempts by people of all ages to fit the "prophecies" to their time.
He believes, as St Augustine and Martin Luther did, that Revelation is symbolic and is not to be taken literally.
John of Patmos clearly believed he was speaking of the events happening in his lifetime, which of course they did not.

There's no way to know. No one can be sure that their translation of the "cryptic babbling" is accurate until it actually happens.
Though it's my belief that before those prophesies are fulfilled, there will be prophets who are able to translate it.
I occasionally have flashes in which I understand all of it, and can see it all clearly, but it disappears before I have a chance to write it down, and I can't remember it afterwards. I know that sounds like utter crap, but it's true.

to many it is "cryptic babbling" and will remain so until God opens their eyes to the truth.
"The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned."

No - many have tried - but there is danger in attempting to interpret that kind of prophecy. It can cause you to miss it when it comes, like the Jews missed Jesus when He came because they had concocted their own interpretation of the Messianic prophecies.
Tim LaHaye has written a lot of books on the subject, but I don't personally agree with his conclusions. There are just too many variables and unknowns.
