i found a recipe for Black Bottom Banana Cheesecake Bars.
and the recipe said to Line a 9-inch by 13-inch baking pan with foil.
my question is....Can i just grease the bottom of the pan..
this is whats in the bottom of the pan--For the Bottom:
Cream 4 ounces of cream cheese, 1 egg and butter together on low speed until combined, about 1 minute. Blend in cake mix by hand until combined. It will be very thick, but piable like a soft dough. Press into bottom of a 9 x 13-inch baking pan.

The foil is for "ease of release", much like a pineapple up-side down cake the bottom is the top. There's not enough moisture or the Bars to just "plop" out and no components to form a crust for a clean release

I wouldn't use foil in the bottom of the pan... I would use Parchment paper. It's easier to get out of the bottom of the pan as foil sometimes sticks to the bottom of the pan! You can grease the pan if you like, but the product may not come out the same. Greasing the pan may cause the product to be greasy, or may burn the bottoms.

GOOD LUCK!!

I think that the lining of the pan with foil is good for clean up but it is also to help aid in the removal of the cheesecake bars. By leaving tabs of foil on either end as you run your knife along the edges to loosen your bars the foil will help removing the whole thing out of the pan for easy slicing.

Yes, you can just grease the bottom. They say to use the foil to aid in getting the bars out of the pan. It could really stick to the bottom. You could also add 1 or 2 tablespoons of oil to the mixture.

I use parchment. If it is tricky to get out you, will be thankful you lined the pan.
