When I lift, it can take 4 days to a week before I recover and feel ready to lift again. This seems excessive and other I talk to seem to rocover in about two days. I eat healthy, usually carb rich snacks before workout and protien rich after workout. Is this correct? I try to strecth and even do light repititions the following days to clear out muscles of lactic acids to try and speed rocovery, but to no success. I am also trying to lose weight, so I try not to consume too many calories. Thank you,

Try using N02. It is a hemodialator and increases your fast twitch muscle strength while decreasing recovery time significantly. After using it for about a month you will notice that you don't get sore at all. It works by increasing nitrogen flow to your muscles and generating a "perpetual pump". You keep the results for good. I stopped using for a while and had not worked out in about a year and still had the same definition that I left off with. One freakishly cool (but safe) side effect is the fact that your muscles stay pumped for up to 16 hrs after you are finished working out.

You should only need 24 hours to recover. Are you lifting consistently? Waiting too long between sessions might be your problem. Are you lifting properly? I would consult a personal trainer at the gym and have him/her show you proper form and technique so as not to injure yourself. Technically when you are lifting weights you are creating small tears in the muscle fibers. The cells go to work repairing these tears which makes your muscles bigger. You should always let muscles rest for 24 hours. Maybe work your upper body one day and then lower body the next. Always do cardio. Remember to stretch. Try massage therapy. Best wishes!

I think that is about average for people who have not done serious weight-lifting for a while. Try using smaller weights with more repetitions - that will make the experience less painful and will allow you to be more consistent in your workouts. You'll end up burning around the same amount of calories, without feeling that you should just give up.

Been there, done that and its painful, but after a while you will see major progress. Good luck.

good question...don't worry about your recovery time..it really is different for everyone. Being a girl, my recovery time would be a looot different from the typical guy like yourself. Depending on how often you have been lifting over the past few month(s), your body may still be adjusting to the weight being lifted...also consider cross training to increase your body's ability to metabolize different areas of the body (i.e. biking, running, skipping, jump rope along with lifting). But don't reduce your calories dramatically..you still need veggies, fruits, and the all-important carbs...don't worry buddy, you're on your way...:)

There are certain drugs you can get from the pharmacist to help speed recovery. Other than that, your bodies natural healing ability is part of your immune system and is pretty much in-penetrable. Good luck :)

you're truly fortunate to have a quickly metabolism. commence by potential of eating each little thing and something you gave ever needed to. pass to kfc, Mcdonalds and eat something extreme in carbs and fat, and be particular you're taking in additional effective energy than you burn

Maybe not enough potassium, which speeds up healing. Try eating bananas as well. I hope this helps.
